I. Raw Material Source Control
The variety, origin, and harvest time of bitter melon (Momordica charantia L.) significantly affect the content of active components. Different varieties (lines) show substantial differences in total saponins, polysaccharides, flavonoids, and total phenolics.
Fixed variety and origin: We select specific bitter melon varieties from contracted cultivation bases in major production areas such as Guangxi and Shandong, ensuring varietal purity and consistent baseline levels of active ingredients.
Harvest time control: Harvesting is carried out at the stage when the fruit is mature but has not yet turned yellow, at which point the saponin and polysaccharide contents are at relatively high levels.
Incoming raw material testing: Each batch of raw material is tested for pesticide residues, heavy metals, moisture, and saponin content before being accepted into the warehouse. Non‑conforming batches are rejected.
II. Active Component Testing System
The core value indicators for bitter melon extract include bitter melon saponins, polysaccharides, and flavonoids. We have established a multi‑dimensional testing system to ensure that each batch meets the specified requirements.
III. Production & Process Specifications
Extraction process: Either water extraction or ethanol extraction is employed, followed by filtration, concentration under reduced pressure, spray drying, and packaging. Key process parameters are monitored online and recorded.
Production environment: Operations are conducted in compliance with GMP standards, with strict control of dust, cross‑contamination, and microbiological risks.
Compliance with national standards: The production process complies with the national standard GB/T 46671-2025 "Technical Specifications for Production Processes of Plant Extracts."
IV. Batch Consistency & Retained Sample Management
Homogenization through batch blending: Within the same harvest season, multiple batches of raw materials are tested for saponin/flavonoid/polysaccharide content and blended accordingly, controlling batch‑to‑batch variation within ±10%.
Retained sample system: Retained samples of each finished batch are kept for 24 months, with periodic re‑testing of key indicators. Customers can retrieve raw material sources, production records, and retained sample photos using the batch number.
Stability data: Accelerated stability tests show that saponin content variation under conventional packaging conditions is ≤5%, meeting the two‑year shelf life requirement.
