Physical and chemical properties

The main ingredient of the turmeric extract supplement is curcumin, which is orange crystalline powder and slightly bitter. It is insoluble in water, soluble in ethanol and propylene glycol, easily soluble in glacial acetic acid and alkaline solution, and is reddish brown when alkaline, and yellow when neutral and acidic.
