Organic cranberry powder ingredients
Organic cranberry powder contains a large amount of proanthocyanidins, flavonol and hydroxycinnamic acid, which can prevent bacteria from adhering and gathering in the mucosa in the human body, reduce the formation of biofilm, and thus reduce inflammation.
The antibacterial properties of proanthocyanidins in organic cranberry powder were related to their degree of polymerization and the ratio of A-type/B-type bonds.
Proanthocyanidins with high degree of polymerization can better inhibit the growth of candida, while proanthocyanidins with high A-type bond proportion also have better antibacterial effect and can more effectively inhibit the activity of bacteria.
Role of proanthocyanidins
Proanthocyanidins can prevent bacteria from multiplying and forming biofilms by interfering with bacterial aggregation at the early stage of infection, so as to achieve antibacterial effect - the hydroxyl structure widely existing in proanthocyanidins can promote the formation of hydrogen bonds between molecules, enable small molecules to aggregate, interact with receptors on the cell surface, interfere with bacterial adhesion, and hinder the formation of biofilms of bacteria in the oral cavity, stomach, urinary tract, female vagina, small intestine, colon and other parts of the body.
Organic cranberry powder also contains non phenolic compounds such as isoprenoid, ursolic acid and xylan, as well as active ingredients such as arabinose glucan, which, when combined with proanthocyanidins, can more effectively prevent bacteria from adhering to epithelial cells and forming biofilms.
The metabolites of cranberry polyphenols in the colon, including hydroxylated benzoic acid and phenylacetic acid, can also effectively inhibit the adhesion of uropathogenic Escherichia coli to bladder epithelial cells and the formation of biofilm.
Effect
Studies have shown that cranberry extract can help lower blood pressure. In the experiment, the volunteers suffering from obesity, type 2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular disease supplemented 346-835mg of cranberry polyphenols every day for a period of time. With the increase of intake of cranberry extract, the systolic blood pressure decreased by 3mmHg on average.
In animal experiments, cranberry polyphenols show multiple regulatory effects on sugar metabolism - they can inhibit the digestion and absorption of carbohydrates in the intestine and stimulate the islets of langerhans β Cells secrete insulin and activate insulin receptors in insulin sensitive tissues to promote sugar absorption and regulate the release of liver glycogen.
