Introduction to materials

Elderberry is a deciduous shrub, up to 4 M. The stems were aprismatic, multi branched, grayish brown and glabrous. Leaf apposition, a single number of pinnately compound leaves;

Fruit red, rarely blue violet black, ovoid or nearly round, 3-5 mm in diameter; 2-3 nuclei, oval to oval, 2.5-3.5 mm long, slightly wrinkled. The anthesis period is generally 4-5 months, and the fruit ripening period is 9-10 months.

Distribution range

Sambucus nigra is extremely widely distributed worldwide, with indigenous Chinese Sambucus nigra in China, Western Sambucus in Europe, and even gold leaf Sambucus nigra, which is especially used for horticultural ornamental purposes. Distributed in the understory, enema, or plain roadside. Growing in pine and birch forests at an altitude of 1000-1400, hill slope rocks, forest margins and so on.
