Raw material introduction
We selected Andrographis paniculata extract supplement as the dry aboveground section of the Acanthaceae plant Andrographis paniculata, which is native to subtropical regions and is presently farmed in South China, East China, and Southwest China.
Chemical structure and properties
The supplements containing andrographolide extract primarily comprise diterpene lactones, with the largest content of andrographolide, neoandrographolide, deoxyandrographolide, and dehydrated andrographolide.
1. Andrographolide, commonly known as Andrographolide B, has the chemical formula C20H30O5 and the atomic weight 350.44. Colorless rectangle or rectangular crystal, exceedingly bitter, mp. 230 °C231 °C, easily soluble in acetone, methanol, ethanol, mildly soluble in chloroform, ether, insoluble in water, petroleum ether, and benzene.
2. Neoandrographolide: a derivative of andrographolide C and andrographolide. C26H40O8, molecular weight: 480.58, colorless columnar crystal, without bitterness, mp 167 °C168 °C, easily soluble in methanol, ethanol, acetone, mildly soluble in water, more difficult to dissolve in benzene, ether, chloroform
3. Deoxyandrographolide, also known as andrographolide A, has the chemical formula C20H30O4 and the molecular weight 334.44. Colorless flake (acetone, ethanol, or chloroform) or colorless needle crystal (ethyl acetate), mp 174°C175°C, soluble in methanol, ethanol, propanol, benzene, and ether.
4. Dehydroandrographolide has the chemical formula C20H28O4 and the molecular weight 332.42. 204 °C, colorless needle crystal (30% or 50% ethanol), easily soluble in ethanol and acetone, soluble in chloroform, mildly soluble in benzene, nearly insoluble in water
5. Homoandrographolide, Andrographon, Andrographan, Andrographesterin, Daucosterol, Melaleuca A, Wogonin, and other components Sterol saponins, sugars, condensed tannins, and other phenolic compounds are also present.
Pharmacological action
1. Improve immunological function Andrographolide sulfonate can improve leukocyte phagocytosis of microorganisms. Andrographolide has also been shown to increase the phagocytosis of peritoneal macrophages and neutrophils of mice to Candida albicans or Staphylococcus aureus in vitro, as well as the activity of lysozyme in the peripheral blood of mice.
This action of andrographis paniculata extract supplement will be diminished or hindered if it is used concurrently with leukocyte phagocytosis inhibitors such as gentamicin, tetracycline, and erythromycin.
2. Bacteriostasis Staphylococcus aureus is inhibited by 5% decoction; proteus is inhibited by 20% decoction; and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, pneumococcus, hemolytic streptococcus, dysentery bacillus, typhoid bacillus are all inhibited by 40% decoction. The new andrographolide supplement derived from andrographis paniculata extract has the same clinical effect on bacterial dysentery as chloramphenicol, but without the adverse effects.
3. Cancer-fighting properties W256 transplanted tumor is inhibited by dehydrated andrographolide hemisuccinate Chemicalbook.
Succinic acid (arginine double salt) is made from dehydrated andrographolide disuccinate hemiester potassium hydrogen. It can block tumor cell proliferation in large, medium, and small dosages, and as the dose increases, the efficacy increases, and the anti-tumor effect is real and stable.
4. Antipyretic action Andrographis paniculata L has an antipyretic effect on vaccine-induced rabbit fever.
5. anti-viral outcome Andrographis paniculata decoction can stop the decrease of human embryonic kidney cells caused by the orphan virus ECHO11.
6. Anti-spirochete activity Leptospira is inhibited by a crude crystal isolated from Andrographis paniculata leaves. Dehydroandrographolide lactose is a leptospirosis treatment that is more sensitive to the febrile type, the Australian type, and the influenza typhoid type.
7. Adverse consequences When consuming 15-30g of Andrographis paniculata orally, nausea, anorexia, and urticaria may develop in rare situations.
